Gymnastics is a model of combining beauty and mechanics, even if it is just a simple high and low bars loop (a difficult aerial twist in gymnastics), there is a complex transformation of force and energy between athletes and the flexible bars in their hands.

During the big loop, the contestant starts to fall from the upside down position on the bar. Due to the friction between the hand and the bar, the loop speed will slightly decrease, with the angular velocity of the first half of the loop approaching 275 degrees per second. But in the first half of the lap, the athlete must accumulate enough kinetic energy to enter the upward half, especially when the next lap requires completing a flight or entering a series of somersaults and downshifts. Therefore, they must transfer energy to the flexible carbon fiber rod in the downward half circle, and absorb energy in the upward half circle to increase the loop speed.

To compensate for the loss of loop speed during the fall, female high and low bar athletes will use a "light swing" motion. While slightly raising the hips and retracting the legs to avoid the low bars, it also shortens the rotating arm of force, making one's center of gravity as close as possible to the center of rotation, increasing rotational energy. At the bottom of a loop, the downward acceleration of the contestant's body can reach 4-7 times gravity, and the high bar in hand can be pulled up to 27 centimeters away from the centerline. Then, they relax their hips, pelvis, and abdomen, swinging their legs forward and swinging them into an upward half circle. By utilizing angular force in this way, they can increase their rotational angular velocity to approximately 304 degrees per second. This is also the reason why the high and low bars big loop movement can only be completed in the direction of passing through the low bars from the first half of the circle, and cannot be reversed.
