Fashion Design - Bikini

The bikini was originally just an inconspicuous small island in the Marshall Islands of the Pacific, famous for the explosion of the first atomic bomb by the United States there. A few days later, a Frenchman named Louis Reid designed a new swimsuit and named it a bikini (Figure 4-47). He may also have had a premonition that the release of this swimsuit would become an atomic bomb in the fashion industry.

Prior to this, Frenchman Jacques Heim had already launched a similar two-piece swimsuit and touted it as "the world's smallest swimsuit.". In response, Red proposed the promotional slogan of bikinis being "smaller than the smallest swimsuit". The top of this swimsuit is similar to a bra, with only a thin strap on the back and triangular pants. The legs are completely exposed and can be folded to fit into a matchbox. Because the design was too bold, Red couldn't even find a brave model to showcase it, and eventually hired a nude dancer named Michelin from the Paris Casino. In July 1946, they showcased bikinis at a public swimming pool in Paris. Despite being attacked and disliked by many conservatives, they gained recognition from more fashion enthusiasts
