The fiber content is the main unqualified item in the spot check of swimwear products, and the qualification rate is much lower than other spot check items. However, in recent years, with the continuous strict supervision at all levels and the improvement of enterprise quality awareness, the qualification rate has been increasing year by year. The main reasons for unqualified fiber content are:
① Firstly, the detection of fiber content requires a high level of technical expertise, and most enterprise laboratories are unable to establish corresponding self inspection capabilities. Enterprises are unwilling to submit for inspection or batch inspection when they are unable to determine the component content of the raw materials used. During production, they often use fiber composition data provided by suppliers or estimated fiber composition data to create product composition labels, which has poor accuracy;
② Enterprises produce a fiber content label that is mixed with products produced from different raw materials and at different times. Alternatively, identification may be based solely on experience;
③ Some companies intentionally pass off substandard products as high-quality ones, knowingly labeling the materials used as low performance and low value fibers as high performance and high value fibers, or intentionally increasing the content of high-performance fibers, using low-grade products as high-end products to mislead consumers. Sea water color fastness is a color fastness item specifically designed for swimsuits. For swimsuits with substandard sea water color fastness, dyes are prone to detachment during wearing, washing, and maintenance, which can contaminate light colored clothing or transfer to the skin, thereby affecting the continued wearing of swimsuits. At the same time, detached dye molecules or heavy metal ions may be absorbed by the human body through the skin, affecting physical health. The reasons for unqualified color fastness are complex, such as incorrect selection of dyes, unqualified dyeing processes, and insufficient post-treatment. It cannot be ruled out that some manufacturers have used unqualified dyes or reduced certain processes to save costs or outdated technology, resulting in unqualified color fastness.
